New House and Raspberry Porridge

Hi everyone!  I hope you’re all well and happy :)

I have moved!  We are so happy in our new house, it has a much bigger garden and a much better feel to it - plus a younger, happier, easier going, metal-loving landlord! Hooray!  The kitchen is smaller but only just.  It more than makes up for it with its gas hobs, oh gas hobs how I have missed thee!  I feel so much more relaxed here, so much more ready to sort out my healthy eating and get back on the exercise wagon!  Cor just saying that makes me want to go for a run right now lol.

The move was fun!  Kind of.  As we only moved two streets away we took most of the stuff round in our two cars…a Micra and a KA, the smallest cars known to man! The bigger stuff we walked round, that was not so fun!  We felt we looked a bit silly sometimes but we did save over £100 on renting a van.  It just seemed a bit over the top to get a van as we were only moving round the corner.  I checked on google maps and it’s 0.3 miles between the two houses.  We did about 25 trips back and forth in total in one weekend, Saturday and Sunday.  We had work on Monday and I felt so brain dead!  I had trouble with sentences that day!  It was much better than our last move anyway and that was only 4 months ago.  I was very hung over that day and we had a 500 mile round trip to make in two days.  UGH!!

Anyway! I’m glad it’s getting lighter now too, just seeing a little bit of sunshine makes such a difference to my day.  I can’t wait until it’s warm enough to eat in the garden and spend more time in it.  I don’t have many pictures yet as I’ve been really busy with sorting the house out and at work recently but I fully intend to remedy that in my next post :)

I recently tried some Dorset Cereals Real Raspberry porridge and it’s really, really nice.  It has real pieces of raspberry, pumpkin seeds and dates in it.  I’ve been having it with a chopped banana and almond butter.  Almond butter is the new peanut butter in my eyes!  I make the porridge with water and then put coconut milk on top.  I usually use Kara coconut milk although they have recently changed their name to Koko.  Now that we have moved I've also allowed myself to use the new china! I was so happy with this set hehe, it's called Sorbet and everything is pink and dotty, poor Andy.

I found this meal planner on Kris Carr’s website and thought it was pretty good..  I’ll print some of these out and get using them. You can click on the pic to read about it or just get the PDF here.  I think it will come in handy for planning my food shopping which I really need help with at the moment!  I seem to be going to the supermarket every day and I despise it!!

I also found this video on Fit Sugar that shows you what 100 calories of an alcoholic drink looks like, very enlightening!  Especially the vodka one!! :-/

Next time I’ll have some food and house pictures for you, I promise! Hopefully we’ll have a bit more sunshine too :)  Have a great week

  1. I am so glad you are happy in your new home. I lived in a house that I hated for 20 years and it took me to the edge of despair. Funnily enough my son rents it off us now and he loves it. Your bowls are so pretty. Thanks for the link to the menu planner, it's great! Have a good weekend x

  2. So glad yr happy with yr new place! It can be soul-crushing to come home and just feel uncomfortable being there. I agree - the bowl is beautiful! It goes well with the raspberry cereal which sounds really delicious. I wonder if I could find something like that here.

    1. Thank you so much :) Yes it was horrible at the old house, I just wanted to stay at work all the time as I felt more comfortable there and that can't be right!! The raspberry porridge is oatmeal, I told my mum about it and she's going to make her own gluten free version. It's oatmeal, raspberry pieces, pumpkin seeds and date pieces. Hope you can find some/make some, it's really very good! x
